Ramble On Ron

Diamonds, Music and other Facets of Life

Stevie Ray Vaughan – Tightrope

All you can do is listen to this solo and smile because you’re watching one of the best to ever pick up a guitar. “Can’t catch a turtle in this rat race…”

The Band & Eric Clapton – Further On Up The Road

This video is from The Last Waltz and it makes me smile every time I see it. Notice Eric Clapton’s guitar strap coming loose in the intro and Robbie Robertson picking up the solo without a hitch. Although Clapton dusts Robbie you gotta give him a “A” for effort!

The Grateful Dead Created Social Networking

Way before the internet, facebook, twitter, blogs, and the idea of “sharing content” across your network , The Grateful Dead were sharing their music with fans across the world through tapes, not computers. They were one of the first bands to allow and actually encourage taping of their live shows. How often did you go […]

If You Get Confused, Listen To The Music Play

Things are slowly moving forward around here.  We got knocked out by the snow, but the diamonds are still coming in.  We just cut a 4.60 carat round diamond into a 3.63 fancy yellow radiant cut that’s now at the lab.  I will post some pix of a before and after very soon. For now, […]

Sure Don’t Know What I’m Going For, But I’m Gonna For It For Sure

Happy New Year!  It was a great year for me personally and for Samuelson’s Diamonds.  We are growing as a company in all directions both locally and online.  In my first post of 2010, what better video to post than one of the Grateful Dead’s most meaningful songs, Saint of Circumstance.  This was performed at […]

Psycho Killers Tonight

Going to see Psycho Killers tonight. It’s pretty cool to see your buddies play in a band that rocks.  I have the privilege of frequent jams with lead guitar/vocalist Jon Wood and percussionist Mikey Barnstein. Check ’em out!

Heller Highwater Rocks Heller’s Wedding

Check out what Heller Highwater would sound like if we had a great singer and a funky sax player.  Mazel Tov Steve and rock on!

Allman Brothers Band 10/6/09

The Allman Brothers rocked it last week at Merriweather Post Pavillion.  Gregg is getting old though – he’s got Gov’t Mule’s keyboard player helping him out, but his voice still sounded good.  Check out this video I took of Woman Across The River.  Warren and Derek are trading some tasty licks – enjoy!

Summer Concert Review

As the late, great Jerry Garcia said, “Summer time’s come and gone my oh my.”  And this summer went fast.  I hit a few shows though, both local and national acts, and the results were mixed.  I’m gonna start in the spring. March – Blues Traveler Yeah I folded and thought that they would be […]
